Fresh off the heels of performing in Nunavut, Greenland and Atlantic Canada, as well as a summer filled with performances alongside the likes of Jim Cuddy and George Canyon, Indie Rocker Marshall Dane is back on the road touring East to West Canada, independently visiting Radio Stations with another smash of a track - OUT CROWD!
With a new direction of songwriting, Marshall embarks on connecting with his audience on a more profound level than ever before. With the addition of Sign Language, 3rd year student Marshall Dane has taken his performance and his music to a unique and unexpected place…. Welcomed with love and kindness, the Deaf community has invited Marshall to perform with and for the Bob Rumball Centre For Deaf in Toronto, as he interprets his own songs into ASL or has someone interpret alongside him. “I couldn’t hear her, but I could feel her energy as we were spiritually and emotionally connected, as she reflected my motives and intent, and it was unlike any other shared experience I’ve ever had….A frequency of music I didn’t know existed and the Deaf community has been tapped into it since the beginning….paying attention to body language, being present, and staying connected.
Born in St. Catharines, Marshall grazed on a rich fix of music, from the country sounds of his preacher Dad who taught him to play “The Farmer’s Song” on guitar to his Mom, who played piano in the evenings for his family of four sisters and two brothers. Marshall admits that his parents’ spiritual upbringing permeates his songs with themes of love, home and kindness.
For five years in a row, Marshall has been nominated for Male Artist of the Year at the CMAO Awards, alongside artists who have major label backing and riding recent hit singles. Why? Sheer fan power it is Marshall’s fans who have consistently voted him into the top level. The fans don’t need a chart number to influence their loyalty he’s a star to them, and that’s the real end game. They hear it. They feel it.
Whether it’s a large scale festival stage, the CNE, one of the many CCMA Country Music Week performances or an intimate club, Marshall’s live show is second to none. He is an artist that always connects with his audience and his energy and passion for performing makes his shows impossible to forget. “I love to write songs and I love recording them, but when I step out on a stage in front of a packed house, that’s where the fire starts for me.”
