Nauroti Devi was born in an underprivileged dalit family. She never recieved any formal education. She worked at construction site and pointed out wage discrepancy between men and women. Later, Devi took this case to the supreme court. Not only did she win the case but also realised the importance of literacy. Nauroti joined 6-month long literacy program in Barefoot College. She talked to young girls, made sure they went to schools, gained confidence and support. She learnt basics for operating computer received request for standing in elections. She agreed and won. In 2010, became the sarpanch of Harmada. She fought against the alcohol mafia and worked tirelessly for the construction of water bodies, toilets, houses and the installation of hand pumps.
