Strange Days Live on The Metal Mike Show

Strange Days Live on The Metal Mike Show: Those were the days... What a pleasure it was for me to sit down with one of my biggest influences and watch his old band rock out on my old tv show. Strange Days was Shannon Lyon's band with Mike Alviano, Paul Martin, Larson Liebig, and Dan Cornelius. They captured my attention with their no nonsense style as they did with so many people across the country. Strange Days graced stages for some really big shows, opening for such big time acts as Blue Rodeo, The Tea Party, and the Skydiggers among so many others. I remember hanging out in clubs like Kitchener's Volcano, Waterloo's Phil's Grandson's Place, and the Commercial Tavern in Maryhill to see my favourite band lay it down like so few could. I think this performance on The Metal Mike Show is indicative of the power Strange Days had at their command. I asked Shannon if he would ever consider a reunion with the others and he replied, "I'm in!" Keep your fingers crossed. R.E.M. was noted for Buck's arpeggiated "jangle" guitar playing; Stipe's distinctive vocal style, unique stage presence, and cryptic lyrics; Mills's countermelodic bass lines and backing vocals; and Berry's tight, economical drumming. In the early 1990s, other alternative rock acts suc...
