Open Space: Ski Mask The Slump God | Mass Appeal

It's been a long road for Ski Mask the Slump God. With his You Will Regret mixtape streaming on all major music platforms, and a brand new deal with Universal Republic signed and sealed, this South Florida rapper can honestly say he made it. But things were a little bit rocky at first. As Skimask explains in our latest edition of Open Space, he met his partner in rhyme, XXXtentacion while they were locked in juvenile detention together. Ski mask had been busted for selling a dime bag while XXX was in on a gun charge. They traded bars behind bars and discovered a mutual affinity for music. Ski mask's father was also a rapper, who encouraged his son to get into the rap game, but it wasn't until he linked with XXX that inspiration was sparked. After their release, they pursued various illegal hustles before purchasing some basic sound equipment on eBay and getting to work in a tiny home studio. The rest, as they say, is history. The Members Only clique would soon form and before you knew it they were being managed by a porn star and posting freestyles to XXX-rated sites like Pornhub. Our interview touched on everything from the drinking to the drugs to the wild tour stories. Perhaps it's best to let Ski Mask tell the tale. (He even kicked a freestyle in the stairwell for us.)
