They recorded two demos and an EP, released before the separation in 1980. They were the first band to record for the independent label Dischord Records, besides being spearhead in both the straight edge movement and the hardcore DC, after the separation, MacKaye and Nelson would form the seminal punk group Minor Threat. 18. X Formed in Los Angeles, California in 1977. It emerged with the first wave of American punk bands and its original members were the singer Exene Cervenka, bassist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom and drummer DJ Bonebrake. They have released seven studio albums from 1980 to 1993. After a period of inactivity during the mid-1990s, the band met in the early 2000s. 17. Siouxsie & the Banshees It is a British rock band formed in 1976. Bearers of the post-punk movement, along with the band Joy Division and The Cure, their music continued to evolve towards alternative rock in their albums and to pop in their singles. Siouxsie and the Banshees was one of the most innovative bands of the post-punk movement. 15. The Stranglers The group, created in 1974 as Guildford Stranglers falls within punk rock despite having appeared before the first wave of the genre and are considered as one of its predecessors. 14. Dead Boys Formed in Cleveland in 1976. 13. TV It is an American rock band formed in New York in the mid and late 1970s. Despite being often considered a punk band, Television had a distinctive style in which the guitars of Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd were the center of attention, so they have been compared to psychedelic rock bands like Grateful Dead. 12. Discharge It is an influential hardcore punk band of English origin. His music was crucial for the development of English hardcore, better known as UK82, crust punk, grindcore, black metal, thrash metal, and several subgenres of extreme metal.
