Why were Blink 182 bigger than Sum 41 ? Blink 182 have been more successful than Sum 41 over the last 20 years ? Whilst Sum 41 have a very successful career across the punk rock / pop-punk / rock radio scene, sell out great venues, produce well received albums & play festivals, there is no arguing that the most successful pop-punk / punk rock band over the last 25 years is Blink 182 .. considering how many pop punk & punk rock bands they've inspired, how many festivals they've headlined, how well their albums do. They play huge arenas whilst Sum 41 haven't quite reached that level (although are very close and still highly successful / part of that 2001 pop punk / punk rock popularity) In this video I'll discuss; Why Blink-182 sold more albums , play bigger arenas and venues, whether they write better songs & how they inspired other pop-punk / emo / punk-rock bands to come (Simple Plan , Neck Deep , Fall Out Boy , My Chemical Romance etc ). Mark Hoppus writing songs AVA (Angels and Airwaves) & +44 (Travis Barker & Marks band) writing songs for the audience Sum 41 on Kerrang Radio etc How Blink 182 rode the 90s wave of punk & how this boosted their career from the start, and how Sum 41 were a little late to the pop punk party. How Deryck Whibley impacted the band plus the departure of Steve Jocz & Dave Baksh vs Tom Delonge leaving Blink 182 & Matt Skiba replacing him. Plus the pop punk / punk rock fans that helped.
