U-Men - Interview (Seattle, WA - November 1, 2017)

The U-Men from left to right are: Tom Price Charlie Ryan Jim Tillman John Bigley Interviewed by: Alex Kostelnik This is most of the full band interview from the record release party for their box set released on Sub Pop Records in 2017. This party and interview was at The Georgetown Stables at 980 S Nebraska St, Seattle, WA 98108 in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle. This venue closed in April 2021 (after 10 years) due to hardships from the Covid-19 pandemic. This box set contained every released U-Men song except their cover of "Blue Christmas", which later came out as a Sup Pop split 7" with Green River doing "Away in a Manger". Here is a description of the night from the event page on Facebook: "Celebrate the release of Sub Pop's complete U-Men collection - a three record set including 5 previously unreleased songs and a lovely booklet. No, the band isn't going to play, so you can just stop with that now. But they'll be interviewed live on stage followed by a brief audience Q & A. The record will be available (2 days ahead of official release). Complimentary refreshments. Free admission." It wasn't a huge turn out, but quite a few people still came to hang out, reminisce, and celebrate the rad box set. Some notable "grunge dudes" showed up as well as many personal friends and family members of the band. I plopped my self right up front for the interview, but unfortunately, the battery in my phone that I was using to record the interview died before it was over. If I recall correctly, there was maybe another 5 minutes of the interview before fans were allowed to come up to the table and ask for autographs. I brought a copy of Deep Six that Tom had previously signed. I also had to later go home, make a pot of coffee, and stay up long enough to write a paper about vampires for an English 102 class I was in at the time. Solid Action.
