Ned Donovan - New Words (from "In the Beginning")

Ned Donovan - www.neddonovan.com On February 3rd, 2016, my father, William Michael Donovan, passed away at the Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia. He was 62. At the time he was in the hospital, I was a few months into working on a passion project of a collection of recordings. Rather than performing on the tracks, I produced them. However, when we learned that my father was entering his final days, I decided to add one more track to the project. This is that song. On the 27th of February, I gathered 12 friends together to record and film this beautiful arrangement by Chris LaRosa of the stunning song "New Words" by Maury Yeston. Maury Yeston has long been one of my favorite composers and I knew instantly that I wanted to record this song in honor of my Dad. Thank you to the amazing artists who helped me out with this. To Chris LaRosa for the arrangement. To Marcus Thorne Bagala for being my rock through this whole project. To my friends and family, you guys mean the world to me and are the only reason I keep my head up every single day. Dad charged me to live, and I continue to do so because of the love you all give me. Lastly, to Dad. When he was in his final days, he still insisted that I tell him my ideas, keep him in the loop on what I was working on, to play him every demo for these tracks, and to constantly talk about what was upcoming. He was so actively supportive of my life, and it's that kind of support that has made me who I am, living a life that I love. So thank you, Dad. I love you, and I miss you always. Rest in Peace.
