On May 15, 1998 Los mejores de la timba, Team Cuba, played a concert at El Capitolio in Havana. Team Cuba was the brainchild of Juan Formell who wanted to bring together the most successful bands of the day in a grand concert. The bands he chose were: Adalberto Álvarez y Su Son, La Charanga Habanera, Manolín el Médico de La Salsa, NG La Banda, Issac Delgado y Su Grupo, Paulito FG y Su Élite and Los Van Van. Each band performed 2-3 of their hits. Musical directors were José Luis Cortés "El Tosco" and Joaquin Betancourt. Formell wrote a theme song for the occasion called "Somos lo que hay" . The video quality is poor, but the audio is OK and the energy pouring off the stage is explosive! For those of us who missed this event, this is an important historical document. Enjoy! Coro 2: Somos negro, mulato y jabao. Coro 3: Aquí están, los que batean 400.
R.E.M. was an American rock band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1980 by drummer Bill Berry, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and lead vocalist Michael Stipe, who were students at the University of Georgia. R.E.M. was noted for Buck's arpeggiated "jangle" guitar playing; Stipe's distinctive vocal style, unique stage presence, and cryptic lyrics; Mills's countermelodic bass lines and backing vocals; and Berry's tight, economical drumming. In the early 1990s, other alternative rock acts suc...
