The Sound Of Music [Int], Gett Off & It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night [H-int] Johnny The after-party took place for the first time at the Rex Club, a venue that was in full swing at the time, but had a small capacity. The venue quickly sold out, and around 800 people attended the show. It was already almost four in the morning when the NPG Hornz brass instruments began to blow the few notes of the song The Sacrifice Of Victor as an introduction. After barely a minute, Prince appeared on stage and plunged into the crowd in the front rows. The group then began a soulful/funky groove on a song still unreleased at the time, House In Order , which would be found on the Mavis Staples album . Next came the title The Undertaker , also unreleased at this stage, before also being planned for the Mavis Staples album . The version played this time was "full effect", that is to say with the entire NPG group and the brass instruments. Another version of The Undertaker is sometimes played in "power trio" mode: bass - drums - guitar. In a way, Prince was promoting Mavis's album, which had just been released. We then move on to the NPG who are now without rapper Tony M but Prince provides the vocal parts of Black MF In The House , which is also the occasion for a good big funky delirium. In the same style comes Race , which we will find later on the album Come . Next comes a rare performance from Blue Light , then Delirious . Most of the group then leaves the stage, and Michael B , Sonny T and Prince remain on the stage for a session in "new power trio" mode, in the spirit of the official video The Undertaker, which we did not yet know at the time! The Ride , Bambi , the cover of Jailhouse Rock , and Poor Goo are then played successively , which the Parisian public interprets as "boo goo" or "bo cou". This section closes with the title Come played in a stripped-down version. The full band then returned to pop/rock with another series of tracks: Endorphinmachine was still a new release unknown to the public, Peach had just been released as a single the same day, and Pope was a preview of the track that would be found a few days later on the compilation The Hits / The B-Sides . Next comes a sumptuous final jam featuring America , Gett Off , and It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night. As an encore, the NPG plays a Johnny and this last song continues in the form of a jam before ending with the song " NPG in a MFn house " repeated for more than ten minutes by a captivated Parisian audience, even though it was already more than five and a half in the morning!
