featuring Dave McDowell, Writer of Sometimes It's Blue...copyright 2008 Golden Stair Music BMI. An all-in-house Production by IHS Productions Inc. Video Release date: 11/1/13 History: David McDowell, was surrounded by the musical influence of his father, Porter McDowell. At 9 yrs old his dad handed him his old Gibson Arch top guitar & showed him 3 chords; Then he started taking lessons from Shorty Cook, Music Manor & founder of "Down Homers" which was the group Bill Haley performed in before he formed Bill Haley & The Comets.1964 Dave's life changed forever w/ the appearance of The Beatles on Ed Sullivan Show. At 11 years old he was enthralled with this new music. He sat down with his record player & played along until he knew every note they were playing. About this same time Dave's dad & he was going to his Uncle's house every Saturday night & playing together until sunrise Sun. morn. Dave would stand in on guitar along with his Uncle Tom, some friends & his Dad who played bass. This went on for several years & Dave attributes his learning guitar to Shorty Cook & those wild nights of family music. Late 1969 -1970 was a turnaround time for Dave. Just 17, a product of the 1960's revolution mentality, he left home & joined the touring rock group, Count Five. A bunch of guys in their late 20’s that had played Psychedelic Rock from 1964 to 1970, their best-known song was a hit #5 on the charts, "Psychotic Reaction". They lost their lead player and picked up Dave for their last year of touring. They treated Dave like a little brother, trying to keep him out of trouble. while touring. He had the privilege of backstage access to acts such as Bob Seger, Grand Funk Railroad, Steppenwolf, Alice Cooper & a few more. He was with them for about 9 mos. when the group finished out the tour and then disbanded. With those 9 mos finished, so was David, it was an exciting adventure for him but the constant travel & lifestyle had left him at a low 145 lbs. and with ulcers. He immediately ventured into the Biker scene, and that's a whole story in and of itself, so we'll save that for another time! Music was left behind for those couple fo years, so moving on and now in his early 20s, he once again returned to music and met the well-established Nashville songwriter, Billy Nix, who had a group called Billy Nix & the Ideals. Dave started playing bass for Billy until mid-1979. This opened up many opportunities to learn the business and accomplish himself on Bass. It was during mid 70's when David met & married his present wife, SherryJo. In late 1979 Dave started his own Country/Southern Rock band called “Sweet Water Junction”. This band proved to be a popular, high-energy country band in that tri-state area. David played lead guitar, sang bass & shared lead vocals with Sam Moffett Jr, the bass player & Scott Page, the drummer. Sweet Water Junction has a past career that included working with many other Country artists; Dave Dudley, Del Reeves, Sonny Wright & Peggy Sue Webb, sister of Loretta Lynn. In 1987, Dave moved his family from IN to FL, where he spent the next 25 years before moving on to the border hills of the Carolinas in 2012. Throughout the musical journey, they kept busy raising 8 beautiful children. In 1995 w/ the children being musically inclined, Dave's musical past evolved into a faith journey that included the whole family that lasted 6½ years. They traveled throughout the US as "The McDowell Family" singing & playing their own brand of, mostly original, along with/ some old favorite, Southern Gospel tunes. They performed in hundreds of churches, festivals, and concert halls throughout the US, & recorded 7 projects while influencing the lives of countless people during their musical journey. During those travels, they appeared with The Hoppers, McKiethens, John Rowsey & New Journey, Freemans, Phiefers, Wisnauts, Primitive Quartet, Kirk Talley, & countless regional groups. Kids now older and some married, they once again settled in Florida in 2001-2012. From 2002 until 2019 the family went back to Dave's original Country roots by returning to the true sound of Sweet Water Junction Band. ... We leave our channel and videos here for others to remember and enjoy As of July 2019, the family band has retired some of the family members will carry on with the Family Tradition ... visit one of the daughters, Reshana Marie on her FB page "Reshana Marie Music" at https://www.facebook.com/reshanamarie and also on her official website at https://www.ReshanaMarie.com Thank you for hitting "LIKE" , David McDowell, founder of this family band. About Dave Dudley

Dave Dudley was an American country music singer best known for his truck-driving country anthems of the 1960s and 1970s and his somewhat-slurred bass. His signature song was "Six Days on the Road", and he is also remembered for "Vietnam Blues", "Truck Drivin' Son-of-a-Gun", and "Me and Ol' C.B.". His other recordings include a duet with Tom T. Hall, "Day Drinking", and his own top-10 hit, "Fireball Rolled a Seven", supposedly based on the career and death of Edward Glenn "Fireball" Roberts.
