Strongly influenced by Hawaiian slide guitar Vito was fearless in picking up his family's lap steel, trying to find whatever funky new sounds on it possible. Influences like Elvis, The Ventures, Scotty Moore, and numerous others led his creative drive. It wasn't until a chance visit with the legendary duo Delaney and Bonnie that Vito's music career really started to take off. Session work and professional touring followed. Best known for his slide guitar solo on Bob Seeger's "Like a Rock," Vito can be found on tracks from some of the best players around, and has toured the world multiple times over; ultimately landing a signature guitar endorsement from Reverend Guitars!
Richard Francis Vito (born October 13, 1949) is an American guitarist and singer. He was part of Fleetwood Mac between 1987 and 1991. Vito took over as lead guitarist after Lindsey Buckingham left the group. He is best known for his blues and slide guitar style, whose influences include Elmore James, Robert Nighthawk, B.B.
