The Equus project Manny (M) Sena.wmv
Since childhood, horses have been the "fil d'Ariane" meaning continuity, or what keeps the hand in motion, in shape. What began as a simple observation, and illustration, led to an in-depth study of the horse culture around the world. Much research and observation done in the past twenty-five years: texts read, places visited, festivals witnessed, sketches, drawings and prints done. Peter Shaffer's play Equus, seen on a trip to London, in the 1970s, added an element to the project and became the subject of 5 big award-winning etchings years later. Here are some artworks. This video is dedicated to all those wonderful multicultural and multi-generation students, and people, I have met and known, and/or have worked with. To all those that contributed with their own traditional tales. And a special thanks to Souleymane for the music.
