The introduction of their biblical epic, Damnation and a Day, Cradle of Filth take no prisoners with the brutal riffage of The Promise of Fever. Because of the removal of Gian Pyres from the band during production, Paul Allender asked for help from both their drummer, Adrian Erlandsson, and their keyboardist, Martin Powell, in guitar recording. The Promise of Fever is one of several written by the latter, as Powell, himself, stated in the old Cradle of Filth message board.
