A Leroy Carr Vocalion B-side from 1928/9 again with Scrapper Blackwell's guitar. Cracking wee tune with some rather unusual structural details and stuff, and well worth checking out the original! Our one take, one mic, all acoustic version has David Stone on drums, Thomas Lucas on piano, me singing, Sy McBain on bass and Allan Jones on guitar. Noticed the video was a bit jumpy at times today. Think my old computer's past its glory days, plus my patience for using computers and learning about settings and stuff is at an all time low. Just imagine it's an old video or something. :-)
About Leroy Carr
American blues singer, songwriter and pianist who developed a laid-back, crooning technique and whose popularity and style influenced such artists as Nat King Cole and Ray Charles. He first became famous for "How Long, How Long Blues", his debut recording released by Vocalion Records in 1928. Carr was among the most prolific and popular blues artists between 1928 and 1935.
