This CD is a gathering some friends of Dr. Tommy Comeaux, a musician, songwriter and pathologist who was struck and killed while riding his bicycle. Tommy was a member of BeauSoleil, Basin Brothers, the Clickin' Chickens and Coteau, and all of those bands (plus friends such as Sonny Landreth and Sam Broussard) stopped by to lend a hand in The Spirit of Tommy. It is rare that such an event comes off, let alone produces such inspired playing, and that in itself speaks of the regard in which this man was held. This music seamlessly crosses barriers, from some bluegrass to traditional Cajun music, and from hard rockin' blues to Mel Torme's "The Christmas Song." The emotion on Native Sons' tribute "Quiet Man" is heartwrenching, as Comeaux played with the band the night before his untimely death. Many of the players on this disc sat in with whoever was on the stage at the moment to help celebrate the humanness of this revered musician who was respected as a true and good human being. ©Video's(Artists reserves all rights,no copyright infringement intended.
