Recorded live at the California Mid State Fair in Paso Robles, July 31, 2002. Southern rock lost another brother of the road this past week with the passing of Hughie Thomasson of The Outlaws and Lynyrd Skynyrd. For me the highlight of Skynyrd shows while Hughie was in the band was his solo intro to Sweet Home Alabama. This is my favorite version of this solo. The second half of the solo is based on the riff to "Sign Of The Times", a Skynyrd track that was only released on the Japanese version of their album "Twenty".

About Hughie Thomasson

Hugh Edward "Hughie" Thomasson Jr. (August 13, 1952 – September 9, 2007) was an American guitarist and singer, best known as a founding member of Outlaws. The band found success in the late 1970s and early 1980s with a string of hits. He was also a replacement guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Hughie Thomasson was inducted into the Fender Hall of Fame for his work as the founding guitarist and singer of the southern rock band The Outlaws.
