Canyons And Caverns by Shawn Mullins

Shawn Mullins
Rareyoutube

I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it, but there is no video for it. I thought there should be, so I took clips from another Shawn Mullins Video for Everywhere I go and pieced them together to fit Canyons and Caverns. Let me know if you like the song. I know a few good ones that don't have videos.

About This Footage

Shawn Mullins' "Canyons And Caverns" is a hauntingly beautiful instrumental track, one that showcases the artist's mastery of folk rock and Americana. But what makes this 4:20 clip truly remarkable is its rarity. This is not an official music video, nor was it intended to be one. Instead, it's a fan-made creation, cobbled together from snippets of another Shawn Mullins video.

At the time of filming, Shawn Mullins was riding high on the success of his 1998 single "Lullaby", which had reached number one on the Adult Top 40 chart and earned him a Grammy nomination. His music was gaining traction with adult alternative radio listeners, but it's clear that this particular track didn't receive the same level of attention from the artist or his label. Perhaps that's why it's been lost to the ages, relegated to the depths of YouTube where fans have taken matters into their own hands.

This clip is significant not just because of its rarity, but also because it highlights the creative resourcefulness of Shawn Mullins' fanbase. The creator of this video has gone to great lengths to bring "Canyons And Caverns" to life, using footage from another video as a makeshift canvas. It's a testament to the power of community and collaboration in the music world.

Watching this clip, one can't help but feel a sense of nostalgia for the pre-streaming era, when fans were forced to rely on their own ingenuity to share and discover new music. The creator's enthusiasm is palpable, and it's clear that they're driven by a genuine passion for Shawn Mullins' work. As the clip fades in and out of focus, one can almost hear the sound of vinyl crackling in the background, transporting us back to a time when music was a tactile experience.

Despite its rough-around-the-edges quality, this fan-made video has a certain charm that's hard to deny. The patchwork nature of the footage adds to the song's sense of intimacy and immediacy, making it feel like a private performance rather than a polished production. As Shawn Mullins' music drifts through the canyons and caverns of our minds, we're reminded of the enduring power of his craft.

But what's most striking about this clip is its ability to evoke a sense of longing in the viewer. "Canyons And Caverns" is a song that seems to exist outside of time, a haunting melody that conjures images of vast landscapes and forgotten memories. As we watch, we're drawn into the artist's world, a world of dusty roads and sun-scorched skies.

In the end, this clip is more than just a rare find – it's a window into the creative process, a testament to the enduring power of music to inspire and connect us. As Shawn Mullins' instrumental masterpiece drifts through our minds, we're reminded that sometimes, the most beautiful things in life are those that exist outside of the spotlight.
