An astounding multi-instrumentalist and jaw dropping live performer, 2017 has been an incredibly busy year for Matthews, with his 4th Album “Hell West And Crooked” released in March, an 8 month tour of Australia finished in May, major festival performances all over the country and about 9 days actually spent at home in the East Kimberley. This year Chris was invited to officially open up the Tamworth Country Music Festival on the main stage in Bicentennial Park. He also graduated the 2017 CMAA Songwriting Academy, toured Tasmania and WA with 7 time Golden Guitar winner Luke O’Shea in February and May, and performed at the National Folk Festival, Airlie Beach Festival, Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival to name just a few. And there’s plenty more to come over the next 8 months, with the Cygnet Folk Festival, 12 shows at the 2018 Tamworth Festival, a full National Tour and shows with Lee Kernaghan, Luke O’Shea, Karin Page and The Hillbilly Goats still to come. And it’s this “Old School” approach to music that has put Matthews in such good stead. As well as touring to every town known to man, and supporting some of the best such as John Butler, Jimmy Barnes, The Hoodoo Gurus, Bernard Fanning, Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers, and John Farnham, his commitment to his art is second to none.
