"Starlet" (Teaser)

Peter and Blake spawned Twisty Cats during impromptu after-hours parties in their New York East Village apartment over the infamous LIT Lounge during 2009-2010. The pair have since relocated to Savannah, GA where the band took real form. Extending membership to a mid-80's Casio drum machine, the lineup was complete. Limiting themselves to an 8-track tape machine, the duo are churning out recordings of material honed at scattered appearances in Savannah, Atlanta and a headlining gig at NYC's East Village Berlin bar. Twisty Cats have already played alongside Tav Falco’s Panther Burns and Quintron and Miss Pussycat. Background: A longtime member of now defunct The Vanity Set (starring Jim Sclavunos of Nick Cave fame) and Tav Falco's Panther Burns to name but two, Peter honed his vocal chops fronting the band Bellmer Dolls, who supported Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Grinderman, and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Jim Jarmusch once said of Bellmer Dolls "dark and damaged- just how I like my rock and roll". Blake came out of the early 2000's Atlanta scene as a teenager playing bass for kitsch-gore-punk band Knife and the Stabs with guitarist Josh Martin (Shocked Minds/Barerracudas). The Stabs frequently played at the short-lived but influential DIY spot The Neutron Bomb and various house shows, hanging with an emerging group of acts like the Black Lips and new label Die Slaughterhaus records. An ambitious undertaking involving multiple sets and a few pounds of glitter, the band teamed up with director Brittin Richter to bring their twisted playground taunt (Starlet, Starlet, Scarlet-Blooded Harlot) to life. The video is set to release next week prior to the Savannah Stopover Music Festival, where they will perform live Saturday March 12th along with New York’s Mass Gothic and Capsula.
