Hold On - I'll Put It to You - James Carr - 1971
After Goldwax went out of business, James Carr resurfaced on Atlantic for what turned out to be only one single recording session. The result of that session is this two sided classic, released in 1971. The A-Side is a beauty, Hold On, written by Tommy Tate and Caron Whitsett. The B-Side is almost its equal in terms of soulfulness, I'll Put It To You. Many regard James Carr as the world's greatest soul singer. He doesn't dissapoint on either of these two long forgotten sides!
