This candid conversation has sparked controversy among fans and music enthusiasts alike, shedding light on the drama surrounding Zak Starkey's tenure as the band's drummer.

The fact that this footage is tagged as "Rare" suggests that it may not have been widely shared or publicly discussed before its release on YouTube. The interview itself appears to be a significant event, with Daltrey breaking his silence and sharing his thoughts on the situation in an emotional tone. His words are described as "explosive," implying that they contain revelations or criticisms that will likely surprise and intrigue viewers.

The context of this clip is tied to Zak Starkey's long-term association with The Who, which spanned nearly three decades (1996-2025). As the son of Ringo Starr, Zak has a notable musical pedigree, having worked with numerous prominent artists and bands in addition to his work with The Who. His involvement with the band raises questions about the nature of his role within it.

Daltrey's comments are particularly noteworthy, as he is quoted saying "Pete and I ARE The Who. Everyone else is just a session player." This statement has sparked debate among fans, with some interpreting it as a clear indication that Daltrey and Pete Townshend (the band's guitarist) consider themselves the sole true members of The Who. Others may view this as an attempt to downplay Zak Starkey's contributions or diminish his status within the band.

The clip also hints at a monitor glitch incident at the Royal Albert Hall, which appears to have been a catalyst for the drama. While the specifics of this event are not discussed in detail, it is clear that it played a significant role in the tensions between Daltrey and Starkey.
