Twisted Image - Pardon Me (1993)

The Band
1990s1993Rareyoutube

This was the video we did for our original song "Pardon me" written by our band at the time Twisted Image. We were a classic rock cover band based out of Central Newfoundland during the early to mid 90's, but did have a couple of original songs that we managed to play once in awhilel......this was one of them. Our biggest claim to fame was playing on ASN's Breakfast Televesion in Sept of 1993......and of course this video. The band was short lived but we did make some great road memories while we toured around Newfoundland that summer with a full PA and soundmen.......even if we did all travel in a retired, exhaust filled Frito-Lay van!!! The band consisted of members Jason Gill, Mark Mercer, Jamie Cooper, Bill Chant and Jason Newman. All members were from the Gander area except Jamie who was from Grand-Falls.

About The Band

The Band were a Canadian-American rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario. It consisted of Canadians Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel and Robbie Robertson and American Levon Helm. The Band's music combined elements of Americana, folk, rock, R&B, jazz and country, which influenced artists including George Harrison, Elton John, the Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton and Wilco.

About This Footage

This 1993 footage of Twisted Image performing "Pardon Me" is a rare gem that offers a glimpse into the early days of a classic rock cover band based out of Central Newfoundland. The clip's significance lies not only in its rarity but also in its ability to transport viewers back to a bygone era.

The video itself, with its 3:39 duration, provides an intimate look at Twisted Image's original songwriting efforts during the early to mid-1990s. Written by the band members themselves, "Pardon Me" showcases their unique sound and style, which was likely influenced by the classic rock genre that dominated the airwaves at the time.

One of the most fascinating aspects of this footage is its connection to a specific moment in Canadian television history. In September 1993, Twisted Image appeared on ASN's Breakfast Television, a popular morning program that aired across Canada. This appearance marked a significant milestone for the band, demonstrating their ability to reach a wider audience beyond their local community.

The band members' personalities and camaraderie are also on full display in this footage. The fact that they were all from the Gander area except for Jamie Cooper, who hailed from Grand-Falls, adds an interesting dynamic to their interactions. Their enthusiasm and energy are palpable as they perform "Pardon Me" with conviction.

The clip's nostalgic value is undeniable, providing a glimpse into the lives of these young musicians as they toured around Newfoundland in a retired Frito-Lay van. The image of the band members traveling in this vehicle, complete with exhaust fumes billowing from the back, adds to the sense of adventure and camaraderie that defined their experiences.

The fact that Twisted Image was a short-lived band only serves to make this footage more precious. Their legacy may be limited, but the memories they created during their time together are still worth celebrating. This clip is a testament to the power of music to bring people together and create lasting impressions.

In addition to its historical significance, this footage also offers a unique perspective on the early days of Canadian rock music. The fact that Twisted Image was a cover band with original songs adds depth to our understanding of the genre's evolution during the 1990s.

As we watch Twisted Image perform "Pardon Me" in this rare clip, we are reminded of the importance of preserving musical heritage and celebrating the contributions of lesser-known artists. This footage is more than just a nostalgic curiosity – it's a valuable piece of Canadian music history that deserves to be shared with a wider audience.
