Cajun Music in Wisconsin!
Tonight at the French House on the University of Wisconsin Campus, the weekly dinner crowd was treated to some local Wisconsin musicians who play traditional Cajun Music, the Folkloric music of Southwest Louisiana. I captured some unusual playing where one musician plays the fiddle but another strikes the finger board of the fiddle at the same time, emulating a dulcimer like sound. The triangle, known as the "T-fer" (little iron) joins in for some more percussion. This group managed to actually capture the home style sound of traditional music that should have died out long ago but has survived in popularity in Southern Louisiana and spread to other parts of the country. It is amazing to me how they all seem to capture the Louisiana Regional French dialect by ear, usually without actually being able to speak that language.
