We recently had the pleasure of filming a promotional trailer for award winning director Cora Bissett’s theatre production ‘GRIT: The Martyn Bennett Story’. Part of Commonwealth Games 2014 Cultural Programme and a co-production between Pachammama productions, Tramway and Comar, ‘GRIT’ tells the story of Martyn Bennett - Scottish/Canadian musician who influenced he blending of traditional Celtic music with modern dance/techno. Reflecting Martyn’s own Scots-Canadian heritage, GRIT: The Martyn Bennett Story was an exciting International collaboration with Canada’s renowned choreographer Dana Gringas (of ‘Animals of Distinction’) and some of Canada’s finest circus artists who worked alongside an ensemble of Scotland’s dance and aerial artists, actors, live folk singers, and classical musicians, whilst of course featuring Martyn’s groundbreaking dance music in it’s original form. corabissett.co.uk/pachamama comar.co.uk tramway.org Urbancroft Films Website -- http://urbancroft.co.uk Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/urbancroftfilms Twitter -- @urbancroft

About Martyn Bennett

Martyn Bennett was a Canadian-Scottish musician who was influential in the evolution of modern Celtic fusion, a blending of traditional Celtic and modern music. He was a piper, violinist, composer and producer. Diagnosis of serious illness at the age of thirty curtailed his live performances, although he completed a further two albums in the studio. He died from cancer in 2005, fifteen months after the release of his fifth album Grit.
