Governor Jimmie Davis & Jimmy Fontenot
The gov. visited Jimmy Fontenot's studio (Beau James) for years to have his hair cut and exchange stories and jokes with Jimmy Fontenot. Many local celebrities and politicians favored this Mamouiana (MHS class of 1960) hair stylist ,not only for his excellent hair styling skills,but for his incredible ability to deliver a great story and/or joke. This video depicts the gov. at 100 years old getting his routine haircut from Jimmy Fontenot. I believe Jimmy's son,Chris,shot the footage but am not positive. Jimmy gave me a copy several years ago and I promised to one day share it with others via the internet.

James Houston Davis was an American singer, songwriter, and Democratic Party politician. After achieving fame for releasing both sacred and country songs, Davis served as the 47th governor of Louisiana from 1944 to 1948 and again from 1960 to 1964.
