The album was recorded in an abandoned brewery in Seattle. Robin Pecknold and producer Phil Ek spent over a month living in the space, which was unheated and had no running water. They built a makeshift studio out of tarps and plywood and recorded most of the album live, giving it a raw and intimate feel. 2. The song "White Winter Hymnal" features a unique vocal arrangement where each line is sung by a different member of the band. This was inspired by a similar technique used by the Beach Boys on their album "Pet Sounds." 3. The album's opening track, "Sun It Rises," features a prominent banjo riff played by Skyler Skjelset. However, Skjelset had never played banjo before recording the album, and he had to learn the instrument on the spot in the studio. #fleetfoxes #mykonos #folk
