The legendary trumpet- and flugelhorn player Ack van Rooyen (90 years old) wins the Dutch Buma Boy Edgar Prijs 2020. In our archive we found some historical footage. The list of people he worked with is endless but this performance together with his brother Jerry van Rooyen is very special. With the Dutch Metropole Orchestra he performed, on 19 march 1995 a piece called Colores. Also the title of an album he recorded with the beloved orchestra. Trumpet player Ian Carr once said: “Ack is one of the most lyrical soloists, he plays with extraordinary fluidity and flexibility, producing immensely long lines and bubbling streams of triplets.
