Browning Bryant: Blinded By Love (1973, demo)
Allen Toussaint composed and produced "Blinded By Love" for Browning Bryant, a former child star who was trying to transition to a musical career as an adult. This demo ended up being recorded and fully produced on Bryant's self-titled 1974 debut and the song (and album) features Toussaint on piano and members of The Meters as a backing band. "Blinded by Love" would go onto to be more prominently recorded by the likes of Sam and Dave, Lydia Pense w/ Cold Blood, The Waters, Etta James, etc.
About The Meters
The Meters are an American funk band formed in 1965 in New Orleans by Zigaboo Modeliste (drums), George Porter Jr. (bass), Leo Nocentelli (guitar) and Art Neville (keyboards). The band performed and recorded their own music from the late 1960s until 1977 and played an influential role as backing musicians for other artists, including Lee Dorsey, Robert Palmer, Dr. John, and Allen Toussaint. Their original songs "Cissy Strut" and "Look-Ka Py Py" are considered funk classics.
