Since the debut edition of the Ashkenaz Festival in July 1995, the Ashkenaz Parade has been a signature component of the festival. Conceived and directed by Jenny Romaine and Shadowland Theatre (Anne Barber and Brad Harley), this inaugural edition of the parade included many of the features that would become its trademark: giant puppets, props, costumes, hats, stiltwalkers, a stellar cast of strolling Klezmer musicians, and boisterous participation from the community. The Parade processes around the entire Harbourfront Centre site (providing a rare glimpse of Queens Quay prior to the explosion of condos and high rises along Toronto's waterfront thoroughfare), before concluding with an epic dance session on the Ann Tindal Lawn. Artists to watch for in this raw unedited footage include Festival founder David Buchbinder, Martin van de Ven, Allen Merovitz, Sasha Luminsky, Kurt Bjorling, Michael Alpert, Paul Morrisett, Paul Neufeld, Rick Lazar, and others. http://www.ashkenaz.ca https://www.facebook.com/AshkenazFestival https://www.instagram.com/Ashkenazfest/
