~ From davis sacramento they formed from another local band 'the hide-aways' and went all out in estabilishing themselves as one the of the better r&b bands in the area circa '66...the personnel being : dehner patten(from yet another local band the carpet baggers)/gary yoder/paul whaley & jim keylor....with a new manager in tow they worked everywhere everyweek...influenced by brit bands such as the animals and the yardbirds they quickly got into their stride playing the new ballrooms in san francisco and it was after playing a debut show at the avalon that gigs rained in....the group began to stretch the songs out and improvise a lot more and audiences at the fillmore lapped it up! a single was released around this time 'foolish woman/mind destruction' world united(their managers label..) '66 which again did no harm in promoting them...recorded at the infamous 'ikon studios' in sacramento with local group 'the weathermen' providing vocals on 'foolish woman'..this track was a 'warm up' tune as the studio engineer got the studio set-up for the session... the group were messing around with different sound effects but after 11mins the engineer liked what he heard and cut it down to 5mins as the flip-side to foolish woman and such things make musical history!...but early '67 saw the beginning of the end with whaley hanging out with dickie peterson of 'group b/andrew staples' ...yoder would go on to 'kak' and dehner to 'cherry jam'...play loud for maximum enjoyment!
