Honeyjack... a band formed by Mark Summerlin and TJ Scarlett from writing songs intended for recording only. In late 2015, they decided to put together a live band to showcase the songs featuring Mark's brother Paul Summerlin who both worked in SEAL's band prior, veteran regional drummer, Stephen Boudreaux and utility guitarist and harmonyist, Brian Watt. The band started rehearsals in early 2016 and quickly hit regional stages with their debut coming at historic (now defunct) JR's Lightbulb Club on the square in Fayetteville on March 24, 2016, then at George's Majestic Lounge and the Walmart Shareholders event to name a few. Their third gig was opening for STYX at the Walmart AMP for a crowd of about 11,000 on September 1, 2016. Before the live band was even established, Mark and TJ had put together a debut album of 8 songs appropriately titled "8-Track" featuring songs penned by the pair and including bass and vocal tracks by Paul and two drum tracks by Stephen and two drum tracks by Meatloaf drummer, John Miceli. Praise was quickly heaped on the album especially on the radio-ready track, "Please Come Back" and the driving opener, "Just Wired That Way". The track, "Show You Arkansas" was used in a feature video by the State of Arkansas Parks and Recreation to showcase the diverse and beautiful landscape of the state highlighted by Mark Summerlin's lyric that help lead the viewer on that visual journey. One track, "Outcast" was co-written by Mark and Paul's older brother, Talley who was their bandmate in likely Arkansas's greatest band, BE, that was uber hot on the college rock circuit in the 1990s. That track is featured here performed IN FRONT OF Talley. A second EP was recorded with great anticipation called "6". The record included six songs that were a little more aggressive than the first album featuring bigger harmonies and more guitar. The EP also included a live cut of Thin Lizzy's "The Boys are Back in Town" that was popular at Honeyjack live shows. That track had an accompanying live music video that caught a little fire with over 10,000 views and comments from listeners/viewers in Ireland from the Thin Lizzy fanclub that loved the version. All of the recorded Honeyjack orginals can be found on digital platforms like SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/artist/2jW6vIoIjIZQbIzxgAslA5?si=M1YQDTTsR1Gp6Zz-QmuUOw And plenty of live videos here on YouTube of the band while it was around between 2016 and 2022.
