Ms. Harris holds the record for the performer who has won the most Tony Awards with 5. This will mark her 6th Tony. Mr. Whitehead a 4 time tony award winner has produced a remarkable variety of memorable broadway plays. Thank you." 10. It's been there, they had theater during the Blitz in London and it's it will always be there no matter what occurs no matter what adversity occurs." 12. clip "The Graduate" 13.SOT David Sheward (Reporter for Backstage Newspaper and President of The Drama Desk): "It got a very mixed press (The Graduate) I mean it is doing very very well at the box office and it's a very fine production of its level but I think it just got edged out by other shows that were more critically well-received. Q Reporter: So not necessarily the actress or the big actor makes the play or the musical anymore? "Not necessarily I mean if it's big names in a show that gets mixed press then that doesn't guarantee an award nomination. A few seasons ago Nicole Kidman got a lot of press for doing the Blue Room and she was totally naked like Kathleen Turner is and she didn't receive a tony nomination either so if you are big star and you're naked it doesn't automatically mean that you are going to receive a tony nomination." 14. pan from cameraman to press conference ending TONY NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED The Tony Award nominations were announced this morning (06APR02) at Sardi's in New York. The announcements were made by two new Broadway stars, JENNIFER JASON LEIGH, currently starring in 'Proof' and STEVEN WEBER, currently starring in 'The Producers'. The new musical 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' starring Sutton Foster a newcomer to Broadway racked up 11 nominations and the musical 'Into the Woods' starring Vanessa Williams racked up 10 including a nomination for Ms. Woods. The surprise upset was a lack of nominations for 'The Graduate'. Plagued by mixed reviews, the play did not receive any nominations. 'Urinetown' tied with 10 nominations as well.
