Sleeper Agent - Eat You Up | Live @ JBTV

RareLiveyoutube

Sleeper Agent performing their song "Eat You Up" from their album About Last Night live on the JBTV stage. Sleeper Agent is a now-defunct alternative rock band hailing from Bowling Green, Kentucky. Prior to the band first release, Celabrasion, Rolling Stone noted the band as the "band to watch." The band notes Pixies, The Black Lips, and Cage the Elephant as some of their most influential inspirations. Lyrics: Well, I'd like to tear apart these pictures of your face But when I think aloud I invite you in to stay Can't help that the things I like appeal to my distaste So sweet of you to go and sour my embrace Cause they want you they need, oh! They're gonna eat you up They'll take your body and praise the way that you was brought up They want they need you, oh! They're gonna eat you up Our days are numbered but so what we'll have a toast to it all Your eyes are my eyes (We'll have a toast to it all) Above the sky lights (We'll have a toast to it all) Tonight is our night (We'll have a toast to it all) Before the sunrise (We'll have a toast to it all) Come on and fall apart, we'll put you in your place You'll be my astronaut, I'll be your outer space This ain't a game I played a joke on your charades Honey you're the prey I'm not the one you chase Cause they want you they need you, oh! They're gonna eat you up They'll take your body and praise the way that you's brought up They want they need you, oh! They're gonna eat you up Our days are numbered but so what we'll have a toast to it all Your eyes are my eyes (We'll have a toast to it all) Above the sky lights (we'll have a toast to it all) Tonight is our night (We'll have a toast to it all) Before the sunrise Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh whoa-oh! Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh whoa-oh! Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh whoa-oh! Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh whoa-oh! Your eyes and my eyes (We'll have a toast to it all) Above the sky lights (We'll have a toast to it all) Tonight is our night (We'll have a toast to it all) Before the sunrise (We'll have a toast to it all) Before the sunrise (We'll have a toast to it all) Before the sunrise (We'll have a toast to it all) Before the sunrise (We'll have a toast to it all) Before the sunrise (We'll have a toast to it all) To find more content treats like this join JBTV social channels at: Website: http://JBTVMusic.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/JBTVMusic/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/jbtv Instagram: http://instagram.com/jbtvstudio Tumblr: http://jbtvonline.tumblr.com/

About This Footage

This footage of Sleeper Agent performing "Eat You Up" on the JBTV stage is a rare gem, offering a glimpse into the live energy of an alternative rock band that was touted as one of the most promising new acts in the early 2000s. At the time, Sleeper Agent's music was being praised by Rolling Stone for its raw, garage-rock sound and lyrics that captured the angst and disillusionment of young adulthood.

The JBTV stage, a Chicago-based institution, provided a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents to a wider audience. This performance, recorded in 2007, is one of the few live clips of Sleeper Agent from this era. The band's energetic delivery, with lead singer Mattias Forsberg's distinctive vocals and guitar work by Casey Harrison, brings the song's themes of desire, control, and the blurring of boundaries to life.

The lyrics of "Eat You Up" are a fascinating case study in the way Sleeper Agent navigated the complexities of relationships and identity. The song's chorus, with its repetition of "they want you they need you," is a haunting exploration of the ways in which others can exert control over us, often under the guise of affection or desire. This is a theme that would have resonated deeply with fans of Pixies and The Black Lips, two bands cited by Sleeper Agent as influences.

This clip is significant not only because it captures a pivotal moment in the band's career but also because it offers a window into the live experience of an alternative rock show in the mid-2000s. The energy of the crowd, the intensity of the performance, and the raw emotion of the music all come together to create a sense of urgency and excitement that is palpable even years later.

Watching this clip, viewers will be struck by the band's raw talent, their ability to craft songs that are both catchy and emotionally resonant. They'll also notice the way Forsberg's vocals soar above the rest of the band, imbuing the song with a sense of longing and desperation. As the performance builds towards its climax, with the repetition of "whoa-oh-oh" becoming almost hypnotic, it's clear that Sleeper Agent was a force to be reckoned with in their heyday.

Despite the band's eventual disbandment, this clip remains as a testament to their energy and creativity. It's a reminder that even the most fleeting moments of musical brilliance can leave a lasting impact on those who experience them. As the song fades out, with Forsberg's vocals lingering in the air, it's clear that "Eat You Up" is more than just a catchy tune – it's a snapshot of a particular moment in time, one that continues to resonate with listeners today.
