The Byrds were formed in Los Angeles in 1964 and were one of the most popular bands in the world in the mid-1960s. Their sound was known for its clear harmonies and McGuinn's jangle twelve-string Rickenbacker guitar. The band's lineup changed multiple times, with some later members including Gram Parsons and Clarence White. The Byrds were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991. Gene Clark died a few months later, and Michael Clarke died in 1993, making a reunion of the original lineup unlikely. Generative AI is experimental. Learn more
