KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED HERE: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1559188233/paul-banks-and-the-carousels-new-record Paul Banks & The Carousels (http://www.thecarousels.com) are currently pre-producing and arranging a full-length album's worth of new music in Austin, Texas. We've been playing many of the songs live since December, with some of them creeping into our shows as early as last July on tour in California. I feel that this is the most exciting batch of songs I've written to date, and I hope that you find hope and goodness in them. I have ventured out in my songwriting styles and am incorporating corners of influence that have always been there but haven't been tapped into before, like funky dance rhythms that groove hard and deep. The songs are diverse, and I'm very excited about where we're heading. Mostly, I want to sing my heart out to you and share life together. It's what we do. We are very anxious to get these songs recorded the way they should be recorded, and we want to get them to the world's ears the right way, too. The recordings will either be released as 2 EPs during the next year, or as one full-length album. Here's what we're doing. Your pledge will make it possible: We will be recording in Church House Studio, a studio in east Austin that has a former life as an old Gospel church. I think the echoes of its old space will create the perfect setting for our ebb and flow. We will be producing the music ourselves with Fat Fuse, the professional production team headed up by our bandmate Christopher Cox and engineer Grant Johnson. They have great experience, and the last project they produced was our friend Dana Falconberry's new record. We will have strings arranged by our our multi-instrumentalist Christopher Cox (a great composer in his own right), and we'll have vocal harmonies arranged by myself and Jonathan and Joel Nesvadba. (The Nesvadba twins, who currently reside in Los Angeles, will be coming home to Austin for the affair). There will be all sorts of fun things on the record; we need to pay for string players and other musicians for the larger arrangements in addition to studio time and engineering. I've had a great past year of playing with people all over the country and all over Austin, and lots of hard-working friends and special guests will be involved in the recordings. After recording, we will work with another producer to mix the record into glorious sublimity. Then it will be mastered. Both of these steps cost a lot of money when they are done correctly. Your pledge will also help to fund manufacturing and the many expenses that go into releasing a great physical and digital product. Thanks for stopping by. Check out the rewards on our Kickstarter.com page; you'll get all kinds of sweet stuff. Paul Banks & The Carousels are: Paul Banks, Christopher Cox, Jonathan Nesvadba, Matthew Shepherd, Joel Nesvadba, and, often, a bunch of other friends from all over. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1559188233/paul-banks-and-the-carousels-new-record
