Aquarium 11-14-17
Update on my tank 2 months since the last video. It's been a learning experience since the last video. If you look back at the video on 9-21-17 you can see the start of some green Cyanobacteria forming. I had no idea what I was dealing with until it was starting to cover the entire substrate. I went ahead and did a 3 day blackout before adding a powerhead for more water movement at the bottom of the tank. Also lowered the lighting down to around 7-8 hours a day and feeding the fish about once every 2 days on average. Added some more plants including an Anubia Nana in the center mid ground and Dwarf Sagittaria along the foreground. Between the blackout, the increased water flow, the reduced lighting, reduced feeding, and the increase in plants, it seems as though the cyanobacteria has been successfully controlled and the tank has never looked better. Some other changes are the addition of 3 Nerite snails and the removal of my batch of Monte Carlo. I think the depth of the tank was causing too much refraction of my light to allow the Monte Carlo to thrive in this set up. I moved it over to a 2 gallon red cherry shrimp bowl that I've been messing around with and it has seen a bunch of new growth. I did add about 30 sprouts of Dwarf Sag to this tank and saw nearly half of it melt away however enough survived that I think it should be able to grow and spread. Fish & Invertebrates: 1 Red Flame Dwarf Gourami 12 Neon Tetras 9 Corydora Habrosus 3 Amano Shrimp 3 Nerite Snails (Zebra, Olive, & Horned) Plants Water Sprite, Green Foxtail, Bacopa, Anubias Coffeefolia, Anubias Nana, Java Fern, Dwarf Sag, Frogbit
