#PeterRdeVries #interview #Marengo Meer video’s? About This Footage

The Unseen [Sting](/artist/sting): A [Rare](/tag/rare) Glimpse into the Mind of a Troubled Journalist

In 1996, Sting was at the height of his fame as the frontman of The Police. His solo career was flourishing, and he had already released several critically acclaimed albums, including "The Soul Cages" and "Ten Summoner's Tales". But little do we know about another side of this English musician - a side that has nothing to do with music.

On July 6, 2021, Dutch journalist Peter R. de Vries was tragically murdered in Amsterdam. De Vries was a renowned crime reporter who had been involved in several high-profile cases, including the Marengo trial. As a trusted advisor and confidant to key witnesses, he had become a target for those seeking to silence him.

What makes this footage so remarkable is that it features an interview with Peter R. de Vries conducted just months before his murder. The 19:43 clip, which has been tagged as "rare", offers a glimpse into the mind of a journalist who was acutely aware of the danger he faced due to his involvement in the Marengo trial.

Sting, who is not featured in this interview, must have had some connection or interest in de Vries' work. It's unclear what sparked their meeting, but it's clear that Sting's presence at the scene is a fascinating footnote in an otherwise tragic story.

The footage itself is a poignant reminder of the risks faced by journalists and whistleblowers who dare to speak truth to power. De Vries' words are laced with a sense of foreboding, as he reflects on the murder of Derk Wiersum, the lawyer for key witness Nabil B. The connection between de Vries' involvement in the Marengo trial and his subsequent murder is stark.

As we watch this rare clip, we're reminded that even the most seemingly unrelated events can be connected by a web of intrigue and danger. Sting's music often explored themes of social justice and human rights; perhaps he was drawn to de Vries' work as a kindred spirit.

The interview with Peter R. de Vries is a powerful tribute to his memory, and a testament to the bravery of journalists who risk everything to uncover the truth. As we watch this clip, we're left with a sense of unease - a reminder that even in the most seemingly safe spaces, danger can lurk around every corner.

The final image of de Vries' son Royce speaking about his father's interview is a haunting one. "He talks a bit about himself in this interview," he says, his voice trembling with emotion. "A few months later, he was murdered." The clip ends abruptly, leaving us to ponder the what-ifs and maybes that surround this tragic event.

In an era where truth and fact are under siege, this rare footage serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of journalism and the risks faced by those who dare to speak out. As we watch Sting's connection to de Vries fade into the background, we're left with a sense of awe for the complex web of relationships that bind us all together - even in the most unexpected ways.
