Shannon Larkin is an American musician who served as the drummer for Godsmack from 2002 until his departure in late 2024. He played on six of the band's studio albums, beginning with the multi-platinum Faceless (2003) and ending with Lighting Up the Sky (2023). Career and Performance Style Larkin is known for his high-energy, visual drumming style, which often involves twirling and throwing drumsticks mid-performance. Before joining Godsmack, he played for several notable bands, including: Ugly Kid Joe Candlebox Amen Wrathchild America (later Souls at Zero) He also contributed session work for artists like Glassjaw, Stone Sour, and Vanilla Ice. Equipment A longtime endorsee of major brands, Larkin typically uses: Drums: Yamaha (notably the Oak Custom and custom Acrylic kits). Cymbals: Sabian (specifically heavy AA Rock and AAX models). Sticks: Vic Firth (Extreme 5AN). Recent Departure In April 2025, it was officially confirmed that Larkin and guitarist Tony Rombola had retired from Godsmack on good terms. Larkin stated the decision was based on a desire to stop touring after 40 years on the road and live a "simpler life" at home. Despite leaving the band, he and Rombola have indicated they are still collaborating on new music together.
