Big Boy on the way from Fairbury, NE to Kansas City, MO on 09AUG2021
This video taken from along Neb. HWY 8 south and east of Fairbury, NE about 2 miles from the town of Steele City. There had been some infrastructure problems at the "Cherry" switch set (a cross over set of 4 high speed switches with movable frogs) but the maintainers quickly repaired the problem and Big Boy came through with whistle echoing through the trees and hills around the Little Blue River valley. Turn your volume up and listen to the steam whistle as the train nears and passes the camera. This route is known as the "Marysville" sub and the 4014 will pass near Marysville, KS on it's way to Kansas City, MO. Please note 2 items in the train consist that are unusual: The protection diesel behind the water cars is numbered #4015. And there is a bay window caboose at the rear of the train where a caboose should be. Again. This video is straight out of a camera and hasn't been edited. I will clean this up and repost at a later date. Please enjoy! I did. LOL!!
