Like Minds campaign: You make the difference (Mahinarangi Tocker)
Like Minds, Like Mine is a New Zealand public education programme aimed at reducing the stigma and discrimination faced by people with experience of mental illness. Part of the programme is an ongoing television campaign. This video shows Mahinarangi Tocker (a much-loved New Zealand musician) talking about her experiences. It was used in the 2002 campaign "You make the difference".
About Mahinarangi Tocker
Mahinārangi Tocker was a singer-songwriter from New Zealand. Tocker wrote more than 600 songs in a 25-year career in the jazz fusion folk-pop genre. Her vocal style has been compared to that of Joan Armatrading and Tracy Chapman. She also gave lectures around New Zealand about the use of music and creativity to boost learning and self-esteem, and was an adult literacy tutor, writer and poet.
