God Don’t Know Me Anymore (Jory Nash) cover by Lincoln Trudeau

A cover of God Don’t Know Me Anymore, my 43rd guitar recording. Based on the original song written and performed by Jory Nash. I feel very fortunate to have seen Jory Nash perform a few times (obviously not recently because our hellworld has shown so much disdain and hostility for us in the past year). Seen him with a band backing him up and also when it’s just been him, his guitar and one of his fantastic hats and in both cases, have walked away amazed. A terrific songwriter, performer and storyteller – it’s not many artists where I can listen to their albums all the way through and truly enjoy every song. This song in particular really spoke to me from the first time I heard it: just that idea of feeling out of sorts, like you don’t quite belong, like there’s a vital connection missing. I don’t always feel like that though it comes and goes. For most songs, I can look up chord arrangements and lyrics on the usual sites I go to though I had more of a struggle with this one than usual because while I found the lyrics online, there were some mistakes I had to fix after repeated listens of the song (I really hope I got them all correct) and for the chords, I went back to my trusty Chord AI app and between all of that and my limitations in playing and singing ability, I hope it turned out decent enough (obviously it’ll never be Jory because there can be only one). If you’re not familiar with Jory Nash, I would highly recommend changing that: check out https://jorynash.com/ - you can listen to his songs there and also can download his amazing albums (this song is on New Blue Day, except his original sounds a lot better). I know it’s been a hell of a past year though if you’ve got a few bucks to support a very deserving and also very Canadian artist, please do so! If you think of any songs you think might be a good fit for me, please post in the comments; I’m always open to suggestions!
