About This Footage

The Who's tumultuous relationship with Zak Starkey is a fascinating tale of creative tension, power struggles, and the ever-present specter of drummer drama. This 0:26 clip, aptly titled "Did The Who Really Fire Zak Starkey Twice!", offers a tantalizing glimpse into the inner workings of one of rock's most iconic bands.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Zak Starkey is the son of Ringo Starr and Maureen Starkey, making him a member of the storied Starkey family. His drumming career spans over five decades, with notable stints alongside Oasis, Johnny Marr, and, of course, The Who. It's this latter association that has led to the drama surrounding his tenure.

The clip itself is brief but telling, hinting at an on-stage argument between Zak and Roger Daltrey that ultimately led to his initial firing. However, in a surprising turn of events, Starkey was reinstated just two weeks later. This decision only seemed to be a temporary reprieve, as the clip suggests he's been let go once more.

What makes this footage so notable is its rarity. As a "Rare" clip, it offers an intimate look at the behind-the-scenes machinations of The Who during a pivotal moment in their history. Fans and music enthusiasts alike will appreciate the glimpse into the band's inner workings, particularly given the tumultuous nature of Zak Starkey's tenure.

The comparison to Josh Freese, another high-profile drummer known for his work with Guns N' Roses and A Perfect Circle, is an intriguing one. The clip's mention of "serious Josh Freese vibes" implies that there may be a larger issue at play within the world of rock drumming. Is it simply a matter of personalities clashing, or are there deeper issues at hand?

The Who's history is replete with creative conflicts and power struggles, from Keith Moon's antics to Pete Townshend's perfectionism. Zak Starkey's firing and reinstatement serve as a reminder that even in the most iconic bands, egos and artistic differences can lead to explosive consequences.

As fans continue to speculate about The Who's future and whether Josh Freese could be a potential replacement for Zak Starkey, this clip serves as a poignant reminder of the ever-changing landscape of rock music. With its rare glimpse into the band's inner workings and the ongoing drama surrounding their drummer, "Did The Who Really Fire Zak Starkey Twice?" is an essential watch for anyone interested in the world of classic rock.

In the comments section below, fans are weighing in on whether Zak should have stayed or if Josh Freese would be a suitable replacement. While opinions may vary, one thing is certain: this clip has sparked a lively debate that will continue to resonate with music enthusiasts for weeks to come.
