Charles Williams of Albina is the local director, says time for Christian church, black &* white to do its thing. 8/8/1969 Urban league of Portland; Michael Morris, a Black Panther, of Dallas, Texas, comments about society. Shelly Hill, League Director, talks about the difficulty in getting one single spokesman for the black community. 8/14/1969 Mayor Terry Schrunk; Announces the new police public relations program. The program includes sending out printed circulars & allowing public to report examples of police misconduct. 8/22/1969 Albina; Portland Public School Admin taken on Soul Tour of the Albian district 9/4/1969 Suburban Bussing; Will Fletcher, Director of School area 2 which includes the Albina area says that finances are a problem. 9/4/1968 Suburban Bussing; Will Fletcher says that we need to forget segregation in schools, gives his evaluation of the suburban bussing system. 1/2/1970 Howard Anderson: Former Eugene Black Panther leader, Howard Anderson found innocent in Eugene bo charge that he assaulted a Eugene policeman by threating him with a rifle. 1/15/1970 Albina March; parade bolstered by black students who stayed away from school wound thru Albina district from start in Dawson Park to Unthank Park. #00 people, not confined to students marched. Democratic candidate for governor Art Pearl marched & explains why. 1/20/1970 Black Boycott; Black boycott of Roosevelt is being extended to city's entire school system. Reverend Sam Johnson, coalition chairman explains why it is city wide. 1/29/1970 Black Coalition; Chairman Rev. Samuel Johnson announced official end of boycott, talks about the withdrawal of police & assurances that students who took part in boycott will not be punished for actions. Coalition will continue to work toward better race relations in schools. 2/19/1970 Black Panther shooting incident; Portland Black Panther Capt. Kent Ford, describes what he said were eyewitness accounts of incident. PSU students were marching to City Hall and disrupted a council meeting; calling for community control of police, the Mayor, Terry Schrunk tried to talk with them. 2/19/1969 Black Panther shooting incident; Multnomah Co. District Attorney, George Van Hoomissen announces he has asked the grand jury to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting & arrest of Williams. 2/25/1970 Black Panthers; Day with the Panthers, loud speaker blasting words of Eldridge Cleaver. Breakfast for school kids at Highland United Church of Christ on NE 9th. Given breakfast & propaganda. Breakfast program struggling. Shots of buying stuff at stores, & headquarters. Kent Ford, Captain of the Portland chapter talks about organization. 2/27/1970 Black Panther, Grand Jury Report; Richard Smith, foreman of the Grand Jury summed up the findings of the panel in a news conference in the offices of D.A. Van Hooissen. 3/8/1970 Albina Church; Vancouver Ave. Baptist Church in Albina district scene of presentation honoring black leader of the city. O.B. Jon Anderson (born John Roy Anderson, 25 October 1944) is an English singer, songwriter, and musician who co-founded the progressive rock band Yes with bassist Chris Squire in 1968 and rose to prominence as their lead vocalist. The band pioneered progressive rock in the 1970s, particularly with their critically-acclaimed albums The Yes Album, Fragile (both 1971) and Close to the Edge (1972) which display Anderson's role in crafting the group's sound as one of the main songwriters and lyricists. ...
