Doctor My Eyes (Jackson Browne Cover) | Caryl Mack

I've always loved Jackson Browne's music. I first saw him in concert in 1978 in Dallas when he opened for Linda Ronstadt. His "Runnin on Empty" album was a big part of the soundtrack of my college /young adult days when I was discovering my musical "voice" and finding my musical feet. The song "Doctor My Eyes," though it came out years earlier, is one of those timeless songs that resonate. Especially in 2020, with all the tension, adversity, racism, and politics we are experiencing, it speaks to how easy it can be to become jaded and numb to all that is going on around us. My attempt to cover this classic has its weak moments, but in the spirit of keepin' it real, here I go! We pulled in elements from some of my favorite musical influences of the ’70s and ’80s seasoned with all the ingredients from my own personal musical journey. The first single, “Landed on Love,” is a simple love song. It’s a light-hearted look at falling in love. Falling means you gotta land somewhere.
