Sortilege is a legendary heavy metal band from France. They formed in 1981, released a self titled EP, and two full length albums before calling it a day in 1986. Sortilege mainly sang in French, but their recordings were also available in English. Over the years, Sortilege's music became very influential for many musicians from variety of sub genres of metal. The band returned in the recent years, and released two albums. Sortilege's newest album is called Apocalypso, and the band is currently promoting the new release. This version of Sortilege is lead by vocalist, Christian Augustin, and he's got himself a great band that understands the feel of Sortilege. The new album perfectly channels the classic spirit, and adds a lot of great new elements into the music. Guitarist, Olivier Spitzer, and vocalist, Christian Augustin, talk about the new album, and explain how Sortilege came back as a full time band. The interview was conducted by Mark Kadzielawa, through Zoom on May 29, 2023.
