The Marshall Tucker Band's "This Ol' Cowboy" gets a stunning new 4K restoration from their 1977 peak This newly restored 4K music video captures The Marshall Tucker Band performing "This Ol' Cowboy" live on February 18, 1977, at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey. The footage comes from the same concert that produced the archival live album Carolina Dreams Tour '77, filmed at the height of the band's commercial success as a touring act. Doug Gray, Toy Caldwell, Tommy Caldwell, George McCorkle, Jerry Eubanks, and Paul Riddle — the complete original six-man lineup — deliver "This Ol' Cowboy" as the second-to-last song of a 14-song set. That same year, their studio album Carolina Dreams pushed "Heard It in a Love Song" to No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, cementing the band as a major force in Southern rock. The 4K remaster brings out detail in the Capitol Theatre stage lighting and the band's interplay that older transfers of this concert simply couldn't show. Toy Caldwell's guitar tone and Doug Gray's vocal phrasing come through with striking clarity, nearly five decades after the performance was first filmed on tour. Stream the full 1977 concert and hear "This Ol' Cowboy" alongside the rest of this legendary setlist, now restored in 4K for the first time and ready to be rediscovered by longtime fans.
