Eddie "Chank" Willis grew up just outside Grenada MS in the area known as Gore Springs. The guitarist had a love for music for as long as he can remember, embracing all types of music as a child growing up. Eddie first picked up a guitar that his uncle bought when he was a small child, and quickly realized his love for the instrument. As a teenager, Eddie moved to Detroit to attend school, where he started playing in his first band. It wasn't long until Eddie's skill as a guitarist landed him a recording session with Barry Gordy at his newly established studio then called "Hitsville USA." While Eddie "Chank" Willis may not be a household name, the artists that his guitar work appears on are not only household names, but legends. From the Temptations, to Dianna Ross, to Stevie Wonder, Eddie's guitar work can be heard on virtually every Motown song ever recorded, which is how he earned the name "Chank."
