Isotope 217) on drums, Nick Macri (Stirrup, Euphone) on bass, and Steve Marquette (The Few, Ken Vandermark's Marker) on guitar, celebrate the release of their debut album, In The Swim, on American Dreams Records. In The Swim was culled from an improvised, first meeting performance then mixed and edited by Casey Rice in Australia, providing a unique example of the liminal crosstalk and channels of experimentation long characterized by Chicago’s deep, cross-pollinating music community. Tonight’s concert is a double record release show with Douglas McCombs performing solo in support of his new album on Thrill Jockey. Douglas McCombs is a musician based in Chicago. He plays bass and guitar in a variety of groups- Eleventh Dream Day, Tortoise, Brokeback, Black Duck and a duo with David Daniell. In addition he has recorded and/or performed live with a variety of internationally known groups- Tom Zé, Yo La Tengo, Stereolab, Calexico, Azita Youssefi, Facs, Chris Forsyth, School of Language, Charnel Ground, Two Dollar Guitar, A Mason in Ur, Les Batteries, and Sue Garner among others.
