Tennessee Ernie Ford RARE "Hicktown" stereo 1965 Leon Russell Billy Strange

This great-sounding STEREO version of "Hicktown" was the last track on a Tennessee Ernie Ford edition 1991 CD in the Capitol Collectors Series. It was transferred from the original 3-track analog tape master to stereo "ADD" (analog - digital - digital). It is from a March 1965 session led by Billy Strange, and it was used as the flipside to Ford's remake of his 1955 hit "16 Tons," also done that session. Leon Russell is the pianist on "Hick Town," with George Callender on bass, Carol Kaye, Bill Pitman and Billy Strange on guitars, and Hal Blaine on drums. Scott Turner was a cowriter of the song, and Scott used Leon on early recordings by Harry Nilsson. From that March session for Ford, "Now It's All Over" was put on a different single, with credit given to Billy Strange on the label.
